Hi, my name is dale and i have been plumbing for 13 years since i left school, in that time i worked for just the 1 firm, and although i gained a wealth of plumbing experience and know i would more than likely be a level 3 in plumbing due to the jobs i have undertaken with my old firm, i never got a qualification from college due to working away all the time. Is there any way i can obtain my NVQ Level 3 or at least obtain a skill’s card if i demonstrate im competent as the firm i worked for has now gone bust and i dont know what to do as i have spent all my working life doing this and now it will all be a waste of time if i dont obtain any of these,

Hello, i just wanted to know i have great intrest in becoming a plumber but have no experience or any qualifications but very determined to learn is it possible for me to take on the city and guild nvq level 2 and 3?

Hi Rosh. I wish you all the luck in the world and never feel its too much for you, trust me i did have the odd moment when i felt like that but it is so easy to give up and im so glad i didn’t, as now im a level 3 qualified plumber/gas engineer (Gas Safe) and i love it. so all you women thinking about it… GO FOR IT!! good luck and let me know how you get on.. email me for any help.. kellyadamson @ hotmail.co.uk.. xx

Hi Rachel, doesnt matter what size you are.. you could always get someone to help you out at first im sure the muscles will build hee hee but you do need to have a good grip or you will get a few leaks. xx

This is so great to read, especially the feedback! I currently work in hospitality as a 26 yr old and Im thinking of moving to plumbing or electrician work for better pay, better hours and quite frankly better working enviroment. I’ll also admit that moving to Oz would be an incentive as its such a great standard or living.

I had some reserves about doing it, thinking I might be a bit old, it would be a boy club enviroment or maybe that I could fast track it but this website and the readers feeback has been a great help with sorting some of those thoughts out (fast track might be out the window now!)

I am hoping to enrol on a course this year and was confused as what to take as I was being shown C&G 6089, upon reading this however I realise I should be doing 6126.

Hello Kelly, I am considering taking up plumbing and have been lucky enough to do some on the job work experience doing repairs in houses (toilets/taps/baths etc etc) I’m just wondering though, how do you find the physical side of the job? I have done okay so far but when I say I am looking to take up plumbing, some of the fellas say I should take steroids/ do weights (I am about 5’3 and weigh 8 stone :))

Hi i am looking to immigrate to Canada and i am a plumber i have got city and guilds 6129 and nvq level 2 qualification, will these qualification will be recognized in Canada or would i have to do another course to become a qualified plumber?

Hi Kelly your post is just what I needed to see, i was having slight doubts about considering a career in plumbing, but now I want to do this more than ever. I’m a single parent raising four children, and I have applied for the C&G in tecnical plumbing course too, just waiting to hear back.
