Hi I’ve Just seen your link on the facebook plumbing forum. Its good to see an informative site re plumbing courses other than sites from centres selling courses (i’ve got my own website and training centre doing just that) Looking at your upcoming feature regarding fasttrack courses i’ll be more than Happy to provide input on that subject as you’ll no doubt want to give a balanced view on the pros and cons of such courses. And there are plenty! It would also be good to discuss the relevancy of todays plumbing training qualifications such as the C&G 6129 in the real world. The nvq structure is changing rapidly and will soon be replaced in 2010 by a credit based system that can potentially span many awards from multiple awarding bodies such as C&G 6128 – 6129 or the NOCN Domestic Plumbing level 2 Units. There is also the prospect of regional units put forward by training centres becoming qualifying credits. The idea being qualifications are more focussed and relevant to the operatives actual work, with choice and need being the key driver. Are training centres prepared for this? Where will potential students get the right information? Does this mean current students who will soon qualify need to do further centre led training? It could be a real mess, but i do feel its a well needed change thats long long long over due. I look forward to seeing yours and your readers views on this. Kind Regards Jonathan ukonetraining.co.uk
